Growing up in a family of realtors, real estate was always a part of my life. My mom started her career in 1969, and it wasn’t long before I found myself drawn to the profession. Though she tried to recruit me for years, I initially resisted, not seeing myself following in her footsteps. But in 2000, after some heartfelt persuasion and a generous offer to help with my down payment or my first home, I decided to take the plunge and get my real estate license.
Starting out, the learning curve was steep. There was no internet real estate websites to rely on; clients depended on us to provide them with listings and market insights. Fast forward to today, and the landscape has changed dramatically. The internet has revolutionized how buyers search for homes, making information more accessible than ever.
One of the most memorable experiences of my career was in 2010, after the real estate market crash. Inventory was high, but the buying frenzy had shifted. I worked with a client who submitted 18 offers before finally finding her new home. Educating her about the process and staying persistent paid off, and it was so rewarding to see her thrive in her new space for a decade.
Now, as I celebrate my 25th year in this business, I’m grateful for the journey and the opportunity to mentor new agents. It’s about more than just transactions; it’s about building relationships and helping people find their place to call home.
